Support Groups for Casper, Cheyenne, Thermopolis and Sheridan:
the Brain Injury Assc. of Wyoming is seeking to expand support group availability around
the State. We will provide training, a facilitator's manual, telephone and mail support, including mailing reminders to your
support group members, research and materials, and help in selecting guest speakers or topics for monthly groups.
Current cities with potential for attendees include:
Riverton, Gillette, Laramie, and Buffalo. If you or someone you know would be willing to facilitate such

Cody Area
Support group for anyone affected by Alzheimer's Disease. A lending library with books
and videos is maintained by the group.
Douglas & Surrounding areas
Provides respite care to families and/or other caregivers, provides support and education
for families and other caregivers, with the goals of maintaining an individual's present level of functioning, fostering socialization
and peer interaction, and providing an alternative setting that will enable a person to remain at home for as long as possible,
therefore preventing premature institutionalization.

Specific Assistance in the following areas: Subsidized Housing, Tax Rebate, Energy Assistance, Health Insurance Information,
Senior Service Information, Advocacy.
- Recreation And Leisure Activities-The Sheridan Senior Center provides opportunities for people to become involved
in activities that stimulate a wide variety of interests and pursuits. Examples of these activities include art, music,
dance, drama, health related events, educational programs and "lots of entertainment."
Sweetwater County
Supports the caregiver and gives ideas for stress reduction, relaxation techniques,
information and referral as needed. One-on-one counseling available. Also provides training classes.
Torrington
Offers case management - evaluation and care coordination; Respite Care - brief periods
of relief for care-givers; Individual counseling - advice and guidance about options; Supplemental services - other support
for care-giver needs. Care-giver training to individuals is available. |
