The symptoms of ADD, AD/HD can mimic those seen in juvenile HD in the earlier stages. Often parents are concerned their child is demonstrating symptoms of JHD when the child is diagnosed with ADD, AD/HD.
Those that know me know that I feel strongly that the jury is still out (i.e. no HD scientific studies as yet) on what harm ADD or AD/HD medication might do to a child who has JHD but is yet untested. I urge all parents with a child diagnosed with ADD or AD/HD to discuss your child's risk for HD open and honestly with their physician.
A child who has ADD or AD/HD needs help to improve the quality of their life at home and in school. Never ignore your doctor's recommendation, but ask intelligent questions when getting help for your child.
